So at a recent heraldic consultation table (early October 2018), I set myself a goal: to design, in advance, devices that were as in keeping with period heraldic style as I could manage, and still be clear of SCA conflict.

I set myself some restrictions: Period heraldic charges only. Period heraldic motifs only. No use of vert or purpure unless needed to color a “proper” charge.

And I came up with what I think are pretty striking designs. A couple were taken at the consultation table. I offer these to whoever will appreciate them. I ask only two things: give me credit (i.e., say you got them from my website, and share the URL) — and take the designs as they are. In a few cases, other colorations would also work, but having gone to great lengths to achieve good period arms, I don’t want them made less so just “to make them more interesting”, sigh.
